Gazipaşa Alanya Airport Manager Cengiz Aşıklı, in a recent gathering which took place in a pastry shop in Alanya, stated that the airport aims to reach the number of 1 million 200 thousand passengers in 2018. Remarking that 2018 will be an important year for airports, Aşıklı emphasized that Gazipaşa Alanya airport had already reached a success beyond expectations.
The goal is 8 thousand 700 flights in 2018
Aşıklı said that Gazipaşa Alanya airport offered service for 80 thousand passengers in 2012, adding that this number increased to 800 thousand passengers in 2017. Further stating that it is expected that the airport will reach the number of 8 thousand 700 flights and 1 million 200 thousand passengers, Aşıklı added that the in total there will be both domestic and international flights from 37 destinations and 13 countries.
Improvement of foreign affairs play a crucial role
The President of Alanya Regional Executive Committee of Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TÜRSAB), Suat Çavuşoğlu stressed that the number of reservations in the region increased by 70 percent within the year of 2017. “Tour operators found the prices in our country attractive and increased their flight plans accordingly for 2018,” Çavuşoğlu said, explaining that the reason behind this increase is the improving foreign affairs of Turkey and the increasing number of the competitor countries.
Direct flights from Germany is the next step
Burhan Sili, the board member of The Association of Touristic Management (ALTİD) and Turkish Hoteliers Federation (TÜROFED), also drew attention to this increase in the number of passengers as an extremely important and pleasing fact in terms of the development of tourism in the region. Sili added that SunExpress Airways company will be introducing direct flights to Gazipaşa Alanya airport from the German cities of Stuttgart and Cologne, thanking those who contributed, particularly the Foreign Affairs Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu for their effort on improving the tourism of Alanya.
