Foreign investors’ interest in Turkey continues to increase. It is possible to see it in housing purchases. Foreign buyers who have already used their preference for the Aegean and Southern coasts have recently begun to change their preferences.
Last month Iraqi citizens bought 317 houses from Turkey. This was followed by Suudi Arabia with 198 houses, Kuwait with 135 houses, Russia with 95 houses and Afghanistan with 81 houses. Sector representatives said that the interest of foreigners in Turkey will continue increasingly.
In Turkey, 120 thousand 198 residences were sold in August. The number of houses sold last month increased by 3.7 percent compared to the previous month and by 4.7 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. The highest share in residential sales was in Istanbul with 18,696 houses. According to the sales figures, Istanbul was followed by Ankara with 12 thousand 630 housing sales and İzmir with 6 thousand 838 housing sales. In the cases where the number of residential sales is low, Hakkari was registered with 13 houses, Ardahan with 16 houses and Bayburt with 61 houses. In Turkey, mortgaged residential sales grew by 6.3 percent compared to the same month last year, rising to 38 thousand 743. Bilecik was the largest shareholder with 46.9 percent of the total mortgage sales. As a result of other types of sales, the number of houses that changed hands increased by 4 percent compared to the same month of last year and became 81 thousand 455. Istanbul’s share in other housing sales was 64 percent. Ardahan took the last place in other sales.
The Sector is Hopeful
Contractors who assessed the increase in housing sales also stated that they would rise. Ege Yapi Chairman Faith Kabadayı said that TURKSTAT data shows an optimistic picture for the sector and said that the issue of foreign sales should be considered as a field of improvement. Macro Construction Chairman Ercan Uyan said that ensuring political stability brought about economic stability. Özyurtlar Holding Chairman Tamer Özyurt emphasized that this increase trend will continue in the coming months. Cihan Construction Chairman Ertuğrul Yavuz Pala, 216 Construction Board Chairman Bilent Dündar, Demir Construction Chairman Hamit Demir, İnsay Yapi Chairman İhsan Çulhalık, Bahaş Holding Vice Chairman Abdüssamet Bahadır, Denge Yapi Chairman Abdullah Bayram Mehmet Celal Koçer, a member of the Board of Directors of Yapıen Construction, also noted that the year as a bright year for the sector.
